About Commute Cost Calculations
This calculator helps you estimate your total commuting costs by considering fuel consumption, tolls, and parking fees. Switch between gas and electric vehicles to compare costs.
How it is calculated
- Calculations assume consistent commute patterns throughout the year
- Monthly costs are based on 4.333 weeks per month (52 weeks / 12 months)
- For gas vehicles, fuel cost = (distance × 2 × price per gallon) ÷ MPG
- For electric vehicles, energy cost = (distance × 2 × kWh per 100mi × price per kWh) ÷ 100
- Additional vehicle maintenance, depreciation, and insurance costs are not included
Note: This calculator provides estimates based on your inputs. Actual costs may vary based on driving conditions, vehicle maintenance, and other factors not included in these calculations.
