Crestron programmer
Assess the actual control platform, signal path, device integration and editable project files.
Job description
Replace every bracketed field and review the duties before posting.
Interview questions
Ask for a comparable project, the person’s own work and the evidence behind the answer.
Which Crestron platform did you deliver, and what did you program or configure yourself?
Listen for: Processor and tools, personal logic or configuration work, and a clear distinction between custom programming and Crestron Home.
A panel button changes state, but the display does not respond. How would you trace the fault?
Listen for: UI event or join, logic/module, command transport and actual device feedback. SIMPL candidates can explain Toolbox/Debugger use.
Describe a third-party RS-232 or TCP/IP integration that you made work reliably.
Listen for: Device protocol and connection settings, commands, feedback parsing, and evidence from disconnect/reconnect or startup tests.
You change one room function. What do you test before releasing the revised project?
Listen for: Approved behavior, affected and shared functions, startup/reconnection cases, saved versions and a usable rollback package.
What must the next programmer receive to edit and support your completed system?
Listen for: Editable source and UI files, modules, library/tool versions and backups. A compiled program alone is not the editable project.
