Microsoft advances Hebron site work and plans its substation start
July work in Hebron covered grading, ponds and fencing. The owner expected substation work to begin before vertical construction.

Microsoft's Hebron project was still in site preparation in its July 2026 construction update. Crews were grading, building ponds and installing fencing. The owner expected substation construction to begin soon.
That sequence matters to an Ohio electrical shop. Site power infrastructure can move ahead while the data center buildings remain a later phase. A project on the map is not yet a rack installation job.
The schedule the owner published
Microsoft's construction log says site preparation began in March. Its published sequence expected that work to continue through the end of 2026, followed by vertical construction.
A May update names Ames Construction in connection with village approval of construction work hours. The July update describes progress at the site. It does not confirm that a completed substation has been energized or that the buildings are ready for equipment.
The schedule should therefore be read as a plan checked against dated progress, not a guarantee that every later milestone has occurred.
The work to watch
Substation and site electrical firms should identify the utility interface, the party procuring equipment and the system acceptance dates. Those details determine when a crew can work and when it can finish.
Building electrical and controls firms need the vertical construction schedule for their areas. Fiber and rack deployment firms need a later room turnover schedule. Treating all of those scopes as one immediate hiring event would put people on the wrong clock.
The local work-hours approval also belongs in a bid review. A contractor needs to know which approved hours apply to its package and whether its proposed sequence assumes additional access. The published update is not a substitute for the permit or contract conditions.
What remains unconfirmed
The source does not provide a current electrician count, an open-package list or a project wage schedule. It also does not establish how much later-stage work has been awarded.
For contractors tracking future hiring, Hebron is a site and infrastructure lead with a published route toward building construction. Confirm the next package before committing a crew. Use the Ohio pay research to compare compensation once the employer and assignment are known.
