Ascension breaks ground on a Clarksville hospital campus
The $148.5 million Tennessee hospital anchors a larger health campus. The initial 44 beds are separate from future expansion capacity.

Ascension Saint Thomas held a groundbreaking in Clarksville on June 16 for a hospital anchoring a 96-acre health campus near Highway 76 and Interstate 24. The owner values the hospital project at $148.5 million.
The build adds a healthcare lead for Tennessee electrical and low voltage contractors. The wider campus also brings several partner organizations into the planning.
Initial work and future capacity
Ascension's June 17 report says the hospital will open with 44 inpatient beds, with design capacity to expand to 132. The larger number is future potential, not the initial bed count being delivered.
The campus plan includes specialty practices, outpatient surgery, imaging, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital with Lifepoint Health and an ambulance and EMS station through a county partnership.
Ascension expected construction to begin immediately after the ceremony. Its release did not give a final opening date.
Why multiple partners matter
A contractor needs to establish who purchases the work for each building. A campus announcement can include facilities with different owners, contracts and schedules.
An electrical bidder should identify the utility and distribution boundaries for the specific structure it will serve. Communications and security firms need to know how networks and access systems connect across the campus and which party owns integration.
The hospital's designed expansion capacity also belongs in the scope review. Confirm whether a package includes only initial installation, future provisions or equipment for later phases. Pricing from the ultimate bed count would be an unsupported assumption.
The jobs forecast
Ascension forecasts approximately 250 hospital jobs and more than 1,300 direct and indirect regional jobs. Those categories are not a count of construction electricians needed now.
This review did not identify current trade vacancies or remaining electrical packages. The Tennessee pay report can support a confirmed offer comparison. The next useful project update will set the construction sequence and name the buyers for individual scopes.
