Wesley Chapel's children's hospital advances past topping out
Johns Hopkins confirms a May structural milestone and a September donation. The new pediatric campus targets fall 2027 opening.

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital received a $40 million donation for its new Wesley Chapel campus, the owner announced September 10. The building will be named Golisano Children's Medical Center and is expected to open in fall 2027.
The donation is the newest public milestone, but the construction story started earlier. The hospital broke ground in March 2025 and topped out in May 2026.
A pediatric campus with its own energy plant
The owner's project page dates topping out to May 8 and lists a central energy plant, a helipad and an outpatient care center.
The September announcement describes a five-story, 56-bed hospital as part of a more than $300 million investment on 112 acres near Interstate 75 and Overpass Road in Pasco County. The clinical scope includes a 17-room emergency department, four operating rooms, an infusion center and a sleep laboratory.
The gift is part of the project's funding. It is not a newly awarded $40 million trade contract.
Structural progress leaves system work to define
Topping out confirms that the structural frame has reached its uppermost point. It does not establish readiness for patient care or prove which remaining packages are open.
The energy plant makes the boundary between plant work and hospital systems important. Electrical and controls bidders need the equipment schedule, distribution boundaries and sequence for testing plant and building systems together.
Communications, fire alarm and security firms need the current device and network scope. Pediatric clinical areas can have different operating needs from an adult outpatient office, but the room names alone do not establish a specified system. Price the drawings and approved equipment, not an assumed device count.
Why the opening schedule matters locally
Johns Hopkins says 93 percent of children living in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties travel outside the area for pediatric specialty care. The new campus is intended to bring those services closer to families.
For construction crews, the practical consequence is a hospital that must be ready for clinical equipment, staff training and acceptance before patients arrive. Obtain those dates separately from the public fall 2027 target.
The sources provide no electrician-only hiring count or current project wage. They do provide a confirmed structural milestone and a defined campus scope. Compare an actual assignment with the Florida electrician pay report, including the employer, duration and travel terms.
