The Residential Journeyman Electrician Position

As a Residential Journeyman Electrician at Jonsson Electrical, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass everything from laying out and installing electrical wiring to coordinating with apprentices, general contractors, and inspectors. You will primarily work on projects involving single-family and multi-tenant homes in various stages of construction. You will report to the Electrical Supervisor, and work collaboratively with a team of skilled electricians. Core Residential Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will conduct electrical installations for new-construction homes, lay out and rough/trim devices and lighting, and bend and install EMT/PVC/IMC as needed. Other responsibilities include pulling/terminating branch circuits and feeders, installing MC cable, fixtures, smart/standard lighting controls, and performing service equipment installs and grounding/bonding. You will also be responsible for coordinating with apprentices, GC, and inspectors to ensure work is done to code and maintaining clean, safe, and code-compliant work areas. The position requires the ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and use common electrical tools daily.

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a 4-year apprenticeship and certificate, and hold a current Utah Journeyman 5504 Electrical License. Strong NEC knowledge and residential wiring methods, ability to read plans/specs, and produce neat terminations are essential. In addition, you must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and own the required hand tools. We also value a positive attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work well as part of a team.

Tools & Equipment

Our Residential Journeyman Electricians daily use tools such as wire strippers, voltage testers, multimeters, circuit finders, and conduit benders. While you will need to own a set of basic hand tools, Jonsson Electrical will provide all large equipment and specialty tools required for the job.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands for this role include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, the ability to stand for long periods of time, and the capacity to work in various weather conditions. Safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots, are required at all times on job sites.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $32.51-$37.9 per hour, depending on experience.
