Wellstar is building a new patient tower and employee parking deck at its Paulding Medical Center in Hiram, Georgia. The more than $300 million campus expansion is scheduled to add beds in two phases.

For electrical and low voltage contractors, the phase boundaries matter. One tower can contain areas with different fit-out and turnover dates.

The first opening target is November 2027

Wellstar's April 13 report describes a seven-story hospital tower and a 467-space parking deck. The first phase would add 56 beds in November 2027, increasing current capacity from 112 beds by half.

A second phase, planned for fiscal 2029, would add another 56 beds and more procedural capacity. The expansion also includes cardiac procedure and recovery space and additional imaging services.

The release announces a $1 million Hardy family donation supporting the expansion and physician training. That gift is a funding contribution, not a newly available electrical package. The planned 30 physician positions are also separate from construction hiring.

The owner's nursing page confirms that the tower and employee parking deck are being built at the Hiram campus.

Two phases need a defined system boundary

A contractor should establish which floors and systems must be complete for the first opening and which are reserved for the second phase. The plan should identify temporary conditions and the work needed when later areas are brought into service.

Electrical and controls firms need the equipment and distribution scope for each phase. Communications, fire alarm and security firms need to know which common infrastructure serves both phases and what testing is required before the first patients arrive.

The parking deck adds its own lighting, access and security questions. Its turnover may affect where hospital staff park during the tower work, but the sources do not state a separate deck completion date.

What local firms should track

The useful lead is an active campus build with published phase targets. The sources do not identify the construction buyer, current trade awards or electrician headcount.

Ask for the remaining package schedule and the phase-specific labor plan. A worker offered a job should know whether the assignment covers the first fit-out, common infrastructure or a later phase. The Georgia electrician pay report gives a comparison point once the employer and terms are known.
