Metrobloks announced plans for a $1.4 billion data center campus in Liberty on March 24. Missouri's economic development department describes three buildings totaling 568,800 square feet.

The project adds a named campus to the Kansas City region's construction pipeline. The announcement does not provide the trade-package dates a contractor needs to hire against.

What the job forecast covers

The state's release forecasts hundreds of construction jobs and at least 30 permanent positions. It gives an average annual wage of $95,649 for the new jobs associated with the investment.

That wage figure should not be advertised as an electrician rate. The release does not publish a construction wage schedule or separate staffing by trade.

It also describes a low-water-use design. That is a design claim from the project announcement, not measured consumption from an operating campus.

Why three buildings matter

Electrical and communications firms need to establish whether the buildings will be delivered together or in phases. Simultaneous installation can require more crews; a sequence may let the same team move between areas. The square footage alone does not settle that question.

Controls and commissioning firms also need the equipment acceptance schedule. A plan for high-density computing does not reveal which systems the owner will buy or how those systems are divided among contracts.

The next useful records are a named construction team, permitted scope and a package schedule. This review did not verify a later groundbreaking or identify remaining electrical bids. The project remains labeled as announced in this article.
