Applied Digital said on July 1 that Phase 1 of Building 2 at Polaris Forge 1 in Ellendale, North Dakota, was ready for service. The 75 MW delivery brought live campus capacity to 175 MW.

For electrical, fiber and rack crews, the distinction is between a delivered phase and the rest of the construction program. One operating section does not put the entire campus into the same work stage.

A measured delivery

The July announcement identifies 400 MW of contracted critical IT load for the campus at full buildout. Critical IT load describes the computing capacity. It should not be treated as a complete utility-service or equipment specification.

Applied Digital reported that its first 100 MW building was already operating. The July addition is therefore a new delivered phase, not a repeat announcement of the initial opening.

The company's July 27 update says additional campus buildings remained in construction. It also reports $1.59 billion of financing intended to support a fourth building of 150 MW and repay bridge debt. Financing proceeds are not a published electrical subcontract budget.

Installation and acceptance have different dates

A contractor bidding a later phase should ask where it sits relative to equipment delivery, energization, testing and customer acceptance. The July milestone gives evidence of one handover. It does not state how much work remains in another building.

For rack and fiber firms, confirm whether the contract covers landlord infrastructure, customer equipment or both. Name who supplies racks, who terminates and tests the fiber, and who owns the final acceptance record. A powered building and an installed customer system are separate deliverables.

An operating campus also creates boundaries for construction crews. Get the approved access and work plan for any area that connects to systems already serving a customer.

The labor question

Neither announcement supplies a current electrician-only crew count or an open bid register. They support a phased build with confirmed delivered capacity and further funded work.

That makes Ellendale a project to track through its builder and trade buyers. Before taking a traveling job, compare wage, lodging, per diem and rotation against the North Dakota pay report.
