What You’ll Do as a Commercial Electrician

At Prime Partners in Pasadena, CA, we’re looking for a Commercial Electrician who knows how to get the work done right and keep the job moving. This is hands-on commercial construction work, not a sit-behind-a-desk role. Most days you’ll be out in the field installing electrical systems on active job sites, working around other trades, and making sure everything is built to spec, on schedule, and safely.

You’ll be part of projects that include tenant improvements, new commercial builds, equipment installs, and service upgrades. We need someone who can step onto a site, understand the plan, and start contributing without needing constant direction.

Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial Electrician

Your day will usually start by reviewing the scope of work, checking prints, and getting your materials and tools ready. From there, you’ll be bending and installing EMT and rigid conduit, laying out raceways and equipment locations, and setting up panels, gear, and lighting systems.

A big part of the job is reading blueprints and electrical drawings, then turning those plans into clean, accurate installs in the field. You’ll also troubleshoot problems as they come up, whether that means adjusting conduit runs, correcting layout issues, or figuring out why a circuit isn’t landing the way it should.

Other common daily work includes pulling wire, terminations, mounting devices, and coordinating with foremen and other trades to keep production on track. You’ll need to stay organized, work efficiently, and keep quality high while the jobsite keeps moving.

What You Need to Be a Commercial Electrician

We’re looking for someone with 4 to 7 years of commercial electrical experience who can handle the pace of an active construction site. You should have strong conduit bending skills, solid layout ability, and the confidence to work from prints without needing someone over your shoulder.

Must-have skills include a strong working knowledge of the NEC, experience installing commercial electrical systems, and the ability to troubleshoot field issues quickly and correctly. You need to be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to keep up with project timelines without cutting corners.
