What You’ll Do as a Residential Service Electrician

As a Residential Service Electrician at Mr. Sparky in Sugar Land, TX, your role is a crucial one. You’re the person our residential customers trust to solve their electrical issues. You’re the professional who ensures that their electrical systems are safe, efficient, and up to code. Our projects vary, from small electrical repairs to large-scale installations, but your commitment to excellence remains constant.

Your Daily Tasks as a Residential Service Electrician

In this role, you’ll respond to service calls from our residential customers, diagnosing and resolving their electrical problems. On any given day, you might be repairing or replacing breakers, switches, outlets, and fixtures, or troubleshooting power loss or code violations.

You’ll use your excellent communication skills to explain these issues to homeowners, along with the work needed to fix them. You’ll also provide work estimates, perform safety inspections, and install EV chargers and other emerging residential technologies.

Some of your other tasks might include installing new wiring for remodeling projects, upgrading electrical panels, or performing routine maintenance on residential electrical systems. Throughout it all, you’ll be following the highest safety standards and ensuring that all work is in compliance with the latest electrical codes.

What You Need to Be a Residential Service Electrician

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a current Texas Journeyman Electrician License and a minimum of 5 years of residential electrical experience. We’re looking for someone with excellent diagnostic skills and a comfort level working directly with customers in their homes.

Professional appearance and communication skills are essential in this role, as you’ll be representing Mr. Sparky on every job. You’ll need experience with code corrections and real estate inspection punch lists, and you must be familiar with residential permitting processes in Texas municipalities.

In addition, you’ll need to have a good working knowledge of various types of residential electrical systems and the ability to work independently and solve problems efficiently and effectively.
