The Apprentice Electrician Position

As an Apprentice Electrician at Jonsson Electrical, you’ll be engaged in various construction tasks under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician. Your day-to-day responsibilities will range from assisting with raceway installations, wire pulls, device/fixture roughing and trimming, and setting up lighting controls. You’ll also participate in underground excavations for utility or service work. We value teamwork and open communication, so you’ll be expected to report progress and raise issues promptly. Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Electrician, your core responsibilities will include contributing to residential, commercial, and light industrial new-construction tasks. You’ll assist with advanced technical duties such as circuitry layout, system diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Also, you’ll play a key role in regional projects such as solar panel installations and smart home integrations. Safety is paramount at Jonsson Electrical, so you’ll be expected to adhere to our safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license. You should be able to obtain and maintain a Utah Apprentice Electrician license, although we can assist with this process. We also require reliable transportation, consistent attendance, and basic electrical hand tools. You should be physically able to lift 50 lbs and have a positive attitude with a strong team orientation. At least 1-3 years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician is preferred.

Tools & Equipment

You’ll find that our Apprentice Electricians work with a variety of specific tools daily, including wire strippers, conduit benders, multimeters, and cable cutters. You should come prepared with your personal tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and tape measures. At Jonsson Electrical, we’ll provide you with company-provided equipment like power drills and reciprocating saws.

Physical Requirements

The physical demand of this role includes lifting requirements of up to 50 lbs. You should be prepared for various working conditions, from indoor installations to outdoor excavations. Safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves is required at all times.

Compensation Package

Our compensation package is competitive, with a salary range of $17.58-$19.47 per hour depending on experience.
