What You’ll Do as an Electric Vehicle Apprentice
As an Electric Vehicle (EV) Apprentice at EV Careers, you’ll be diving headfirst into the innovative world of electric vehicle charging technology. Based in Rome, GA, you’ll be working on diverse projects including residential charging installations, public charging station setups, and large-scale EV infrastructure developments.
Your Daily Tasks as an Electric Vehicle Apprentice
As an EV Apprentice, your workday will involve hands-on tasks and theoretical learning. You’ll work closely with licensed EV electricians to understand and practice safe installation techniques for Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations. You’ll assist with trenching and conduit placement, manage calibration of meters and sensors under supervision, and test charging station outputs using diagnostic tools.
Data monitoring is another important aspect of your job. You’ll regularly review energy usage data, documenting any abnormalities and ensuring system efficiency. Additionally, you’ll prepare permit packets and inspection forms, ensuring all paperwork is in order for our projects.
Beyond this, common tasks include routine maintenance checks of installed EV charging stations, troubleshooting any technical issues, and occasionally interacting with customers during residential installs.
What You Need to Be an Electric Vehicle Apprentice
Being an EV Apprentice requires a keen interest in EV technology and a commitment towards sustainable energy solutions. A basic understanding of electrical theory and a determination to work towards a journeyman licensure are fundamental.
Strong note-taking and organizational skills are crucial to keep track of the varied tasks and projects. You should be comfortable using tablets and software tools on-site to record data, monitor energy usage, and communicate with the team.
Previous experience in the field is preferred, with 2-5 years as an EV Apprentice or similar role desirable. Above all, we value hands-on abilities and a can-do attitude.
