Critical Power Electrician

Position overview

Install and service critical-power equipment for facilities that cannot tolerate unplanned electrical interruptions. Houston assignments may include UPS systems, generators, transfer equipment, bypass cabinets, and distribution gear.

Responsibilities

Install feeders, controls, grounding, and equipment connections for critical-power systems.

Read one-line and control diagrams to verify phasing, circuit paths, and equipment interfaces.

Support testing and planned cutovers while following approved switching and safety procedures.

Working conditions and schedule

Work is onsite at controlled commercial and industrial facilities. Cutovers or testing may be scheduled during nights or weekends when facility operations require it.

Required qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least five years of commercial or industrial electrical experience is required.

Ability to work onsite in the Houston area.

Current Texas Journeyman Electrician License

Relevant electrical experience may be considered in place of the education requirement.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with UPS equipment, automatic transfer switches, generators, commissioning, or infrared inspection is preferred.

Compensation

The expected pay range is $35 to $45 per hour. Final pay depends on experience and the contractor's review.
