You’ll have the opportunity to work on additional projects in nearby cities, including Carson City, Fernley, and Silver Springs, making every day varied and engaging.
Your Daily Tasks as a Residential Journeyman Electrician
Full-Scope Electrical Work
You’ll perform full-scope electrical work on residential retrofit and renovation projects. This includes installing panels and lighting systems, routing and securing EMT/MC, and upgrading electrical systems in senior housing units. You’ll be hands-on with every aspect of electrical work, ensuring installations meet our high standards.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
A significant part of your day will involve troubleshooting circuit issues. Whether it’s diagnosing a malfunction or upgrading an outdated system, your problem-solving skills will be critical to maintaining the safety and functionality of electrical systems in tenant-occupied units.
Mentoring and Compliance
As a seasoned professional, you’ll mentor junior electricians, offering guidance and sharing your expertise. You’ll also ensure compliance with prevailing wage documentation and coordinate with general contractors and inspectors to keep projects on track and within regulatory requirements.
Additional Daily Activities
In addition to these core tasks, you’ll conduct routine maintenance checks, respond to emergency repair requests, and collaborate with other trades to ensure seamless project execution. Your practical skills and attention to detail will be invaluable in creating safe, efficient living environments for residents.
What You Need to Be a Residential Journeyman Electrician
Licensing and Experience
To join our team, you must be a licensed Journeyman Electrician in the state of Michigan, with 5-7 years of experience in residential electrical work. Experience with federal/state-funded housing programs and retrofitting outdated electrical systems is essential.
Must-Have Skills
You should be detail-oriented and safety-focused, with strong interpersonal skills for working in tenant-occupied units. Proficiency in reading blueprints, understanding electrical codes, and using hand and power tools is crucial. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will set you apart.
