What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician at Aspen Electric
As a Journeyman Electrician at Aspen Electric, you’ll play a crucial role in our multi-year project in Incline Village, NV. Our projects include multi-family remodels and senior housing retrofits, not only in Incline Village but also in neighboring cities such as Crystal Bay, Kings Beach, and Tahoe Vista. You’ll be part of a dynamic team working on both new constructions and retrofitting existing structures. Your expertise will ensure that all electrical systems are installed and maintained to the highest standards, providing safety and efficiency for all residents.
Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing electrical work on various projects, such as installing and updating service panels, terminating circuits, and mounting boxes. You’ll be expected to run EMT and MC cable while adhering to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and specific Nevada state regulations. Supervision of apprentices on active job sites will be part of your role, ensuring that all team members follow safety protocols and work is completed on schedule.
You will communicate regularly with project managers to ensure seamless project execution. Retrofitting outdated systems to meet current code requirements is a key part of your job, along with maintaining safety in occupied housing units. Additionally, you will participate in prevailing wage projects under HUD/MSHDA guidelines. Other common tasks include troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues, performing routine inspections and maintenance, and ensuring all installations meet quality standards.
What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician
To join our team, you must hold a valid Nevada Journeyman Electrician License. With a minimum of 5-7 years in the field, your experience should include residential and commercial projects, with a strong knowledge of NEC and state-specific codes. You must be proficient in reading blueprints and scopes and have prior experience with federally-funded or prevailing wage jobs.
Essential skills include problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to train and mentor junior electricians. You must be reliable, organized, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. You are also expected to provide your own hand tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
