Your Daily Tasks as a Maintenance Electrician

In this role, you’ll be expected to perform routine electrical maintenance on building systems. This includes inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting lighting, power outlets, and control panels. You’ll also respond to urgent repair requests and carry out electrical upgrades. Preventative maintenance will also be a significant part of your role.

You’ll maintain logs of your repairs and inspections, ensuring our records are up-to-date and accurate. Other tasks might include replacing ballasts, fuses, wiring, and fixtures, and coordinating with facilities teams and vendors. Safety is paramount in this role, so you’ll need to be familiar with and adhere to all relevant safety standards.

What You Need to Be a Maintenance Electrician

To be successful in this role, you’ll need an electrical license or a background in facilities maintenance. Solid experience in troubleshooting and repair is essential, along with familiarity with building codes and maintenance practices. The ability to work on-call or during off-hours is required, as is the ability to work independently.
