What You’ll Do as a High Voltage EV Electrician

As a High Voltage EV Electrician at EV Careers in Columbia, SC, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, working on the frontline of the electric vehicle revolution. Our current projects range from installing and maintaining electric charging stations to servicing the high voltage electrical systems in the latest EV models. You’ll need to be flexible, proactive and safety-conscious, as working with high voltage systems is both challenging and rewarding.

Your Daily Tasks as a High Voltage EV Electrician

Each day, you’ll install, service, and maintain high-voltage systems for electric vehicles, along with the infrastructure that supports them. Safety is a top priority, so you’ll ensure all protocols for high-voltage operations are followed. You’ll interpret technical schematics and equipment diagrams, troubleshoot and repair EV electrical systems, and test insulation resistance and power delivery.

Coordinating with our engineering teams, you’ll help determine layouts and specifications, and keep detailed records of system performance and service logs. Your knowledge of NEC and OSHA regulations will ensure we’re always compliant. Additionally, you may be required to train junior electricians and serve as the point person for any high-voltage related inquiries.

What You Need to Be a High Voltage EV Electrician

To join us, you’ll need a valid electrician license with a high-voltage certification, along with a deep understanding of EV systems and high-voltage safety standards. Experience with EVSE equipment and protocols is essential, and you should be skilled in using electrical diagnostic tools and PPE for HV environments.

Familiarity with energy storage systems and power electronics is a plus. You’ll have spent at least 4-6 years in the field, and have strong technical and communication skills. Your ability to work independently and problem-solve on the fly will set you apart.
