What You’ll Do as a High Voltage DC Electrician

As a High Voltage DC Electrician at EV Careers in Pascagoula, MS, you’ll be an integral part of our operations, maintaining and installing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems. Our current projects span across various sectors, including renewable energy, transportation, and industrial systems. Your primary role will be to ensure the smooth functioning of these systems, adhering to the highest safety standards. You’ll work day-in and day-out on power distribution and conversion systems, including rectifiers and inverters, ensuring our operations run without a hitch.

Your Daily Tasks as a High Voltage DC Electrician

Your daily tasks will include installing and maintaining high-voltage direct current systems. You’ll work on power distribution and conversion systems including rectifiers and inverters. It is crucial that you ensure DC arc flash safety standards are met at all times. You’ll be expected to troubleshoot electrical faults in HVDC environments, often under pressure. Reading and interpreting complex schematics will form a part of your day-to-day duties. Additionally, you’ll assist in commissioning new systems, monitor performance data, and conduct preventative maintenance. You may also be required to train and mentor junior electricians, sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience with the next generation of high voltage DC specialists.

What You Need to Be a High Voltage DC Electrician

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a high-voltage DC experience with a licensed electrician certification and DC-specific training. A strong understanding of rectifiers, inverters, and battery systems is a must. You should have a deep knowledge of DC arc behavior and mitigation techniques. Importantly, you should be capable of working with high-voltage PPE and diagnostic equipment. In terms of experience, we’re looking for someone who’s spent at least 4-6 years in the field as a high voltage DC electrician. The ability to work under pressure, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety are all important qualities for this role.
