What You’ll Do as an EV Power Systems Electrician

As an EV Power Systems Electrician at EV Careers, you will be an integral part of our ongoing projects here in Gulfport, MS. This role is not just about technical skills; it’s about practical, hands-on work and problem-solving. Daily tasks will involve the installation and configuration of power distribution systems for EV charging stations, ensuring code compliance, liaising with utility providers, and supporting remote diagnostics and system upgrades.

Your Daily Tasks as an EV Power Systems Electrician

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and challenging. You’ll be installing and configuring power distribution systems for EV charging stations, running conduit and wire to support load balancing and grid tie-ins. Monitoring electrical loads and ensuring code compliance will also be part of your daily activities.

You’ll also be tasked with installing switchgear, transformers, and meters, as well as coordinating with utility providers to ensure smooth operation of our charging systems. Furthermore, you’ll provide support for remote diagnostics and system upgrades. This is a very hands-on position that requires strong practical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise.

What You Need to Be an EV Power Systems Electrician

To be successful in this role, you need to be a licensed journeyman electrician with a solid understanding of EVSE infrastructure and grid interconnection. You should have experience with transformers and switchgear, and possess strong wiring and installation skills.

The ability to read one-line diagrams and permits is also crucial. Safety is of utmost importance in this role, so OSHA safety training is a must. Ideally, you should have 3-5 years of experience in the field as an EV Power Systems Electrician, demonstrating a track record of success and reliability.
