The EV Power Systems Electrician Position

As an EV Power Systems Electrician with PowerGrid, your everyday responsibilities will consist of installing and managing power distribution systems for EV charging stations. You’ll work on a diverse range of projects, in settings ranging from commercial properties to residential areas. Core EV Power Systems Electrician Responsibilities

Your core duties include installing and configuring power distribution systems for EV charging stations, running conduit and wire to support load balancing and grid tie-ins, and monitoring electrical loads. Ensuring code compliance, installing switchgear, transformers, and meters, coordinating with utility providers, and supporting remote diagnostics and system upgrades are also part of your responsibilities. Advanced technical duties specific to the EV Power Systems Electrician role include troubleshooting system malfunctions, conducting regular maintenance checks, and overseeing EVSE infrastructure projects. The safety of our team is paramount, and you’ll be expected to rigorously follow our safety protocols at all times.

Required Experience & Skills

Candidates must have a journeyman electrician license, and a good understanding of EVSE infrastructure and grid interconnection. Experience with transformers and switchgear, strong wiring and installation skills, and the ability to read one-line diagrams and permits are also required. An OSHA safety training certification is a must. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an EV Power Systems Electrician is preferred.

Tools & Equipment

Our electricians regularly use a variety of tools, such as wire strippers, conduit benders, multimeters, and power drills. Personal tools, including hand tools and basic electrical equipment, are required. PowerGrid provides all major equipment, including high-voltage testers, infrared scanners, and heavy-duty power tools.

Physical Requirements

The role of an EV Power Systems Electrician involves considerable physical exertion, including lifting equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds. You’ll often work in outdoor conditions, sometimes in adverse weather. Required safety gear includes hard hats, safety glasses, and high-visibility vests.
