What You’ll Do as a Commercial EV Charging Electrician

As a Commercial EV Charging Electrician at EV Careers in Lafayette, LA, you’ll be an integral part of our team that’s currently leading the charge in electric vehicle infrastructure development. Your primary role will involve the installation and maintenance of EV charging stations in various commercial and retail environments. This is a hands-on, labor-intensive job where each day is different from the last. You’ll be working on-site, interpreting plans, running conduits, installing panels, and ensuring everything complies with relevant regulations.

Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial EV Charging Electrician

Your day-to-day tasks will be centered around the installation and upkeep of commercial EV charging stations. This includes interpreting site plans and specs, running conduits, setting pedestals, and installing panels. You’ll also be working closely with utility providers and inspectors to ensure our installations meet all regulatory standards.

In addition, you’ll be tasked with managing installation materials and documentation, as well as supporting maintenance and warranty calls. Some days might find you troubleshooting an issue at one of our existing sites, while others could see you out in the field installing a brand-new charging station. It’s varied, engaging work that keeps you on your toes.

What You Need to Be a Commercial EV Charging Electrician

To excel in this role, you’ll need to be a licensed journeyman electrician with at least 3-5 years of experience in commercial EVSE installs. This is a detail-oriented role that requires a knack for reading blueprints and working with layout specs.

Strong wiring and troubleshooting skills are a must, as you’ll frequently be dealing with complex electrical systems. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, and municipal permitting is crucial to ensure our installations adhere to all necessary regulations.
