The Commercial Electrician Position

As a Commercial Electrician in our team, your day-to-day tasks will primarily involve installing and maintaining electrical systems in commercial buildings. You will be working on diverse projects in various environments, from new constructions to renovations. Core Commercial Electrician Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing power distribution systems, ensuring compliance with safety codes, implementing lighting control systems, and planning and executing electrical upgrades. You will be managing materials and tools needed for various projects and coordinating with other construction teams. Other tasks are inspecting and testing installations for quality assurance, documenting work progress and maintenance records, mentoring apprentices and junior electricians, providing on-site technical expertise, supporting emergency power system installations, and integrating energy-efficient solutions into designs. Advanced technical duties specific to this role include installing fire alarm systems, maintaining low-voltage systems, and servicing high-voltage electrical systems. You will also need to adhere strictly to our safety protocols.

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have a relevant electrical certification or licensure, a strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Commercial Electrician is required. Essential certifications include journeyman or master electrician certification. You should be proficient in using power tools and diagnostic equipment, have solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and be knowledgeable about safety protocols and building codes. Good communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, are crucial.

Tools & Equipment

Our Commercial Electricians use a variety of tools daily, including voltmeters, ammeters, cable locators, and power drills. You will need your own set of hand tools, like screwdrivers, wire strippers, and pliers. The company will provide heavy-duty equipment such as power generators and cable pullers.

Physical Requirements

As a Commercial Electrician, you will frequently lift heavy equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. You will often work in varying conditions, from outdoor construction sites to indoor commercial spaces. Required safety gear includes hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
