Core Commercial Electrician Skills

We’re looking for someone with a relevant electrical certification or licensure, a strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams. You should have hands-on experience with power tools and diagnostic equipment and solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. A knowledge of safety protocols and building codes is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good communication and organizational skills are a must, along with being physically capable of handling electrical tools and equipment.

Main Commercial Electrician Duties

As a Commercial Electrician, you will install and maintain electrical systems in commercial buildings, troubleshoot, and repair power distribution systems, and ensure compliance with safety codes. Duties also include implementing lighting control systems, planning, and executing electrical upgrades, managing materials and tools for projects, and coordinating with other construction teams. You will inspect and test installations for quality assurance, document work progress and maintenance records, mentor apprentices and junior electricians, provide on-site technical expertise, support emergency power system installations, and integrate energy-efficient solutions into designs.
