As an Apprentice Electrician at EV Careers in Florence, SC, you’ll be part of a dynamic team focused on the installation and maintenance of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. This role is hands-on, practical, and essential to our operations, providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the growing field of EV infrastructure.

Your Daily Tasks as an Apprentice Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician, you’ll play a crucial role in the installation and testing of EV charging stations. You’ll be responsible for pulling wire and bending conduit under the supervision of a journeyman electrician. Maintaining the cleanliness of our tools and worksite is a key part of your role, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Your learning curve will be steep but rewarding. You will grasp how to read blueprints and circuit diagrams and adhere to National Electric Code (NEC) guidelines for low-voltage and 240V installations. Weekly safety meetings and hands-on training sessions are part of your development program.

Shadowing journeyman electricians during EVSE installations and repairs will be a significant part of your apprenticeship, allowing you to gain practical experience and knowledge in the field.

What You Need to Be an Apprentice Electrician

To thrive as an Apprentice Electrician, you’ll need to be enrolled in a certified electrician apprenticeship program. A basic understanding of electrical theory and safety is essential, along with a willingness to work in outdoor and industrial environments.

Physical fitness is a must, as the role involves lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders. Strong communication and team collaboration skills are critical, as is a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ideally, we’re looking for individuals with 2-5 years of experience in the field, although we’re open to ambitious newcomers with the right attitude and aptitude.
