What You’ll Do as a Residential Electrician

As a Residential Electrician at Aspen Electric, you will be a vital part of our team working on dynamic projects in Reno, NV, and surrounding areas including Sparks, Carson City, and Fernley. Our multi-year project focuses on upgrading and maintaining electrical systems in various residential settings. Your role will involve hands-on tasks that maintain the safety and functionality of electrical systems in homes and residential complexes.

Your Daily Tasks as a Residential Electrician

As part of your daily routine, you will be installing, maintaining, and retrofitting electrical systems in residential buildings. You’ll be pulling wire, installing outlets, switches, and fixtures, and performing panel upgrades. Some of your work will take place in senior housing units, which will be occupied during your tasks, requiring sensitivity and professionalism. Safety and cleanliness of the job site are paramount, and you will ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and state regulations. Additionally, you will complete assignments on prevailing wage projects funded by state and federal programs. Other common tasks will include diagnosing electrical issues, repairing faulty wiring, and collaborating with other team members to ensure project timelines are met.

What You Need to Be a Residential Electrician

To qualify for the Residential Electrician position at Aspen Electric, you must hold a State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician License and possess 4-6 years of experience in residential installations and remodels. Familiarity with retrofitting legacy systems is crucial, as is the ability to communicate effectively with team members and residents. You should be comfortable working independently or as part of a team and have reliable transportation. Experience in HUD or MSHDA project settings is a plus. Essential skills include proficiency in using electrical tools, an understanding of blueprint reading, problem-solving abilities, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
