Voice and Data Installer Position Overview

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Voice and Data Installer at Prime Partners, your daily tasks will include the installation and termination of low-voltage cabling systems, such as CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics. You will configure network hardware, including patch panels, switches, and wireless access points, and perform rigorous cable testing and troubleshooting to guarantee optimal system performance.

Core Voice and Data Installer Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics.
  • Mount and configure network hardware such as patch panels, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Create cable pathways using raceways, conduits, and trays, adhering to building and safety codes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to meet installation deadlines and client expectations.
  • Conduct advanced technical duties such as deploying VLAN configurations and managing PoE devices.
  • Implement regional project specifics, adapting to local building codes and client requirements.
  • Maintain stringent safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Voice and Data Installer.
  • Proven experience with low-voltage systems, structured cabling, and network hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of cable testing tools and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently in active construction environments and manage multiple tasks.
  • Essential certifications: BICSI Installer 1, OSHA 10.
  • Technical knowledge in network protocols and fiber optic technologies.

Tools & Equipment

  • Daily tools: Punch-down tools, cable testers, crimpers, and fish tape.
  • Personal tools required: Screwdrivers, pliers, and a utility knife.
