What You’ll Do as a Commercial Electrician
If you join Prime Partners in San Fernando, CA, you’re stepping into a hands-on commercial electrical job where the work changes from project to project, but the expectations stay the same: show up ready, work safe, and keep the job moving. Most days you’ll be on active commercial sites helping build out offices, tenant improvements, retail spaces, and other light-to-heavy commercial projects. This is not a sit-around-and-watch role. You’ll be bending pipe, pulling wire, setting gear, and making sure the install matches the plans and passes inspection. As a Commercial Electrician here, you’ll work with a crew that counts on you to stay productive and solve problems in the field without slowing down the schedule. If something doesn’t line up, you’re expected to catch it, fix it, and keep moving.
Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial Electrician
A typical day starts with reviewing the work area, checking the prints, and getting your materials together. From there, you’ll be installing and bending conduit, including EMT and rigid, laying out raceways and equipment locations, and setting panels, switchgear, disconnects, and lighting systems. You’ll also be reading blueprints and electrical drawings to make sure every run, stub-up, and device lands where it should. On top of that, you’ll be pulling wire, terminating devices, making up panels, and supporting the rest of the crew as the job progresses. You may be asked to troubleshoot installation issues in the field, adjust your work to match site conditions, and keep production steady so the project stays on schedule. We need electricians who can work clean, stay organized, and keep the site moving without creating rework.
What You Need to Be a Commercial Electrician
We’re looking for someone with 4 to 7 years of commercial electrical experience who knows the trade and can handle the work with minimal supervision. You should be strong in conduit bending, comfortable working from prints, and familiar with NEC requirements and standard commercial installations. If you can read a set of drawings, lay out your work, and install it right the first time, you’ll fit in well here. You also need to be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to keep up with project timelines. Good communication matters, and so does a solid work ethic. We want electricians who take pride in their craftsmanship and understand that every day on a commercial site is about safety, quality, and production.
The Good Stuff
Prime Partners offers competitive pay from $35.98 to $39.63 per hour, depending on experience.
