What You'll Do as a Commercial Electrician

As a Commercial Electrician, you’ll be on the tools every day installing, bending, and routing electrical systems that keep the project moving. You’ll work with the crew, follow the plan, and make sure the installation is clean, safe, and up to code.

Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial Electrician

Most days you’ll be bending and installing EMT and rigid conduit, setting up raceways, and laying out runs for equipment, panels, and lighting. You’ll read blueprints and electrical drawings to figure out where everything goes, then work through the install without slowing the job down. You’ll also mount panels, gear, disconnects, and fixtures, pull wire, make terminations, and troubleshoot issues in the field when something doesn’t line up the way it should.

A good Commercial Electrician here also keeps an eye on the details that matter on a busy commercial site. That means checking your work, coordinating with other trades, adjusting to field changes, and staying productive when the schedule is tight. Some days you’ll be working overhead, other days you’ll be in a mechanical room, on a lift, or running conduit across a large open space. You need to be comfortable solving problems as they come up and keeping the job on pace.

What You Need to Be a Commercial Electrician

We’re looking for someone with 4 to 7 years of commercial electrical experience who can step onto a job and contribute right away. You should have strong conduit bending skills, know how to work from prints without needing constant direction, and understand the NEC well enough to keep your work compliant and clean. You need to be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to handle the pace of a commercial project.

Hands-on experience matters here. If you can install panels, gear, lighting, and conduit systems with confidence, you’ll do well. If you’re the type who notices problems early, communicates clearly, and takes pride in doing quality work, even better.
