Day-to-Day Responsibilities of a Cable Puller
As a Cable Puller on our team, your day will involve installing and maintaining low-voltage cabling systems essential for modern commercial infrastructures. You’ll engage in tasks like routing, pulling, and securing cables, ensuring seamless connectivity across various systems. Core Cable Puller Responsibilities
- Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cables, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics, for commercial construction projects.
- Assist with labeling and organizing cables to ensure proper connections.
- Prepare work areas by setting up ladders, tools, and materials.
- Follow installation diagrams to create cable pathways using conduits, trays, and raceways.
- Maintain a safe and clean job site while adhering to all safety regulations.
Advanced Technical Duties
- Perform advanced cable testing and troubleshooting to ensure all connections meet industry standards.
- Implement cable management systems to optimize performance and accessibility.
- Conduct site surveys to assess the best cable routing solutions.
- Engage in the integration of cabling systems with other network components, ensuring full operational capability.
Regional Project Specifics
Our projects in Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, and Noblesville require adaptability to local codes and regulations, ensuring compliance and seamless integration with existing infrastructures.
Safety Protocols

Qualifications
- Basic understanding of low-voltage cabling systems and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
- Physical ability to lift equipment and work in confined spaces.
- 0-1 years minimum experience as a Cable Puller.
Essential Certifications
- OSHA 10 Certification (or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days).
- Aerial Lift and Scissor Lift Certification preferred.
Required Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of network infrastructure and cabling standards.
Tools & Equipment
- Daily use of fish tapes, cable cutters, and crimping tools.
- Required personal tools: basic hand tools including screwdrivers, pliers, and wire strippers.
- Company-provided equipment includes safety gear, specialized testing instruments, and cable pulling machines.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
