Apprentice Electrician at Prime Partners

About Our Apprentice Electrician Team

At Prime Partners in Beverly Hills, CA, our Apprentice Electricians are part of a field team known for doing clean, code-compliant, high-standard electrical work on construction projects where precision matters. With 20 years of experience in the trade, I can say this plainly: the best apprentice electricians are the ones who show up ready to learn, work safely, and support the crew with consistency on every phase of the job. Our reputation in Beverly Hills has been built on reliability, professionalism, and the ability to deliver quality electrical installation work in demanding environments where schedules are tight and expectations are high.

We work on a wide range of construction projects throughout Beverly Hills and the surrounding cities, including West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Culver City, Los Angeles, Century City, Brentwood, Pasadena, and Burbank. Our Apprentice Electricians support new construction, tenant improvements, commercial remodels, multi-family developments, hospitality projects, retail buildouts, and select high-end residential work. These jobs require a strong understanding of construction sequencing, coordination with other trades, and the ability to work neatly in active job sites where quality and safety are non-negotiable.

The Apprentice Electrician Position

An Apprentice Electrician at Prime Partners is expected to be a dependable, hands-on construction team member who supports licensed electricians in the installation, preparation, and organization of electrical systems. This is not a passive learning role. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day progress of the job, helping keep the project moving while building real trade knowledge in the field. On most days, you can expect to assist with conduit installation, wire pulling, box setting, equipment staging, and general electrical rough-in and trim-out tasks depending on the phase of construction.

The work environment varies from day to day, but you should be prepared to operate in active construction sites that may include commercial interiors, ground-up builds, parking structures, mechanical rooms, service areas, and occupied renovation spaces. You may work around other trades such as framing, drywall, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm, low voltage, and concrete crews. That means you must be alert, respectful of site conditions, and able to adapt to changing priorities without losing focus on quality or safety.

Our team structure is organized so that Apprentice Electricians work under the direct supervision of experienced Journeyman Electricians, Lead Electricians, and Foremen. You will receive direction, instruction, and feedback throughout the day, but you are also expected to take initiative, ask questions when needed, and retain what you learn. We value apprentices who want to grow into well-rounded electricians who understand both the technical side of the trade and the expectations of a professional construction environment.

Prime Partners is committed to helping strong apprentices build a long-term career. For the right person, this role can lead to increased responsibility, specialized electrical work, and advancement toward higher-level apprentice milestones and eventually journeyman-level opportunities. If you are dependable, coachable, and serious about the trade, this position can be the foundation of a lasting career in construction electrical work.

Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Electrician, your core responsibility is to support the electrical installation process safely, efficiently, and accurately. You will assist electricians with conduit runs, wire pulls, box installation, and job site prep. You will also support bending EMT, routing MC cable under supervision, organizing materials, maintaining tools, and following all project safety procedures. In addition, you will begin learning blueprint reading, layout basics, and how electrical systems are installed according to plan, specification, and code.

Your responsibilities will also include more advanced technical duties as your experience grows, such as:

  • Assisting with panel prep, circuit identification, and feeder organization
  • Helping with device installation, fixture rough-in, and trim-out support
  • Supporting layout for receptacles, switches, lighting, and equipment connections
  • Learning how to verify measurements, elevations, and coordination points before installation

Because we work in Beverly Hills and surrounding high-profile construction markets, attention to detail is especially important. Projects in this region often involve tight access conditions, premium finishes, active building coordination, and strict inspection standards. You may be working in luxury residential environments one week and a commercial tenant improvement the next, so flexibility and professionalism matter. On many jobs, you will also need to maintain a clean work area, protect finished surfaces, and coordinate carefully with other trades to avoid delays or rework.

Safety is a major part of the job. Apprentice Electricians must follow lockout/tagout procedures when applicable, respect energized and de-energized systems, use proper ladder and lift safety, wear required PPE, and comply with all site-specific safety rules. You must understand basic hazard awareness, including overhead work, sharp materials, trip hazards, confined work areas, and the risks associated with power tools and temporary power systems. Safe work habits are not optional here; they are part of being a professional electrician.

Required Experience & Skills

We are looking for an Apprentice Electrician with 1 to 3 years of minimum experience in electrical or construction work. You should already understand the basics of working on a job site, following instructions, and contributing to a crew in a productive way. A strong candidate will be dependable, willing to learn, and able to take direction from supervisors without needing constant oversight.

  • 1–3 years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician or in related electrical/construction work
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in electrical installation
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, drawings, and field direction
  • Strong attendance, punctuality, and dependable transportation to and from job sites
  • Ability to work in active construction environments with dust, noise, changing conditions, and multiple trades on site
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Essential certifications and qualifications include:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Current OSHA 10 certification, or willingness to obtain it if required
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required depending on project
  • Any state or local apprentice registration requirements must be maintained
  • Ability to meet jobsite access requirements, including background or site-specific compliance if applicable

Technical knowledge should include:

  • Basic understanding of electrical safety practices
  • Familiarity with conduit, boxes, cable, fittings, and common installation materials
  • Ability to identify common electrical tools and materials
  • Basic blueprint or plan reading exposure
  • Understanding of measurement, layout, and construction sequencing
  • Awareness of NEC concepts and local code compliance expectations at an apprentice level

Tools & Equipment

Our Apprentice Electricians use a range of tools every day to support installation work and keep the job moving. Common daily tools include tape measures, lineman’s pliers, needle-nose pliers, side cutters, wire strippers, level, torpedo level, screwdrivers, nut drivers, adjustable wrench, channel locks, hammer, drill/driver, and fish tape. Depending on the task, you may also use a conduit bender, knockout set, multimeter under supervision, chalk line, utility knife, and various pull tools.

Personal tools expected may include:

  • Basic hand tools for electrical work
  • Tool belt or pouch
  • Tape measure
  • Utility knife
  • Voltage-rated screwdrivers if required by the employer
  • Personal flashlight or headlamp
  • Work gloves and other approved personal gear

We also provide the structure, supervision, and support needed to help you work efficiently and safely.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active construction job. Apprentice Electricians must be able to lift, carry, and move materials regularly, often up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more with team assistance. You should be comfortable standing, walking, climbing ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, and working overhead for extended periods. Some tasks may require working in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, or in areas with limited access.

Working conditions may include indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to dust, debris, heat, cold, noise, and active construction traffic. You must be able to work safely around live jobsite conditions and maintain awareness at all times.

Required safety gear includes:

  • Hard hat
  • Safety glasses
  • High-visibility vest when required
  • Work boots
  • Gloves
  • Hearing protection when needed
  • Any additional PPE required by the site or scope of work

Training & Development

Prime Partners believes in training apprentices the right way. Our Apprentice Electrician mentorship program pairs you with experienced electricians who can teach you the practical side of the trade while reinforcing safe and professional work habits. You will learn how to perform tasks correctly, how to improve speed without sacrificing quality, and how to develop the discipline required for long-term success in construction.

Training and development opportunities may include:

  • Blueprint reading and electrical layout instruction
  • Conduit bending practice and installation techniques
  • Code awareness and inspection readiness
  • Safety training and jobsite compliance education
  • Equipment and material handling best practices
  • Exposure to rough-in, trim, service, and troubleshooting support work

Available certifications may include OSHA safety certifications, CPR/First Aid, lift training, and additional trade-related training depending on project needs. As you grow, you can advance from basic apprentice tasks to more complex installation responsibilities, increased independence, and eventually higher-level field roles. A strong Apprentice Electrician can build a path toward Journeyman Electrician status and beyond with the right work ethic and commitment.
