The Remodel & Retrofit Electrician Position

As a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician, you’ll be an integral part of our team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working on electrical remodels in older homes, upgrading service panels, rerouting wiring, and ensuring compliance with modern code requirements. You’ll work in a variety of environments, coordinating with general contractors and city inspectors. You’ll be part of a structured team, working under experienced supervision with considerable growth potential within Mr Sparky.

Core Remodel & Retrofit Electrician Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities would include electrical remodels in older homes, rerouting wiring, upgrading service panels, and adding circuits for new appliances or additions. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with modern code requirements, safely removing outdated wiring, and coordinating with general contractors and city inspectors. You will use diagnostic tools to confirm the functionality of rewired circuits and document changes for project records.

• Advanced technical duties include designing and executing electrical plans, troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and managing large-scale retrofit projects
• Regional project specifics include adhering to Texas Electrical Code and local city ordinances
• Safety protocols include following OSHA standards and utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Required Experience & Skills

We require a Licensed Journeyman Electrician in Texas, with a minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in residential retrofits and remodeling projects. You should have a deep understanding of historical home limitations and structural challenges, excellent planning and layout skills, and attention to detail in finish work. The ability to collaborate with multiple trades on-site, as well as familiarity with GFCI/AFCI protection requirements, is essential.

Tools & Equipment

Our electricians use a variety of tools daily, including wire strippers, circuit testers, and conduit benders. You should have your own basic hand tools, while Mr Sparky will provide major equipment such as power drills, saws, and electrical meters.

Physical Requirements

The position requires frequent lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. You will often work in confined spaces, at heights, and under various weather conditions. Safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves, is essential.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $31.06-$37.03 per hour, depending on experience.
