What You’ll Do as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

Welcome to Mr Sparky in Pasadena, TX. Let’s get right down to the nuts and bolts of your potential role as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician. It’s a hands-on job where you’ll be working on a variety of projects, upgrading and retrofitting older homes to meet modern electrical standards.

Your Daily Tasks as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

As a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician, your work will be centered on conducting electrical remodels in older homes. This includes tasks like rerouting wiring, upgrading service panels, and adding circuits for new appliances or home additions.

You’ll be in charge of ensuring all work complies with modern code requirements and safely removing outdated wiring. You’ll also coordinate with general contractors and city inspectors to ensure all work is up to code.

Other tasks include using diagnostic tools to confirm the functionality of rewired circuits, documenting changes for project records, and troubleshooting any electrical issues that may arise during the remodel.

You’ll also spend a good part of your day communicating with the rest of the team, planning your work, and ensuring the highest quality finish for each task.

What You Need to Be a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

To be a successful Remodel & Retrofit Electrician at Mr Sparky, you’ll need to be a Licensed Journeyman Electrician in Texas with at least 4-5 years of experience in the field.

We handle a lot of residential retrofit and remodeling projects, so experience in this area is crucial. Also, understanding the structural challenges and limitations of historical homes will be a part of your everyday work.

Your skills need to include excellent planning and layout abilities, with keen attention to detail in finish work. The ability to collaborate with multiple trades on-site is also critical. Familiarity with GFCI/AFCI protection requirements will be a part of your daily job.
