What You’ll Do as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

Welcome to Mr Sparky, Missouri City, TX. We are seeking a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician to join our team. Your role will be hands-on, working on a variety of projects, primarily focused on the remodeling and retrofitting of older residential buildings. The nature of our work means that no two days are the same - you’ll be dealing with different structures, different wiring systems, and different challenges daily.

Your Daily Tasks as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

As a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician, you’ll be tasked with upgrading and rerouting electrical systems in older homes. You’ll be adding new circuits for updated appliances, ensuring compliance with modern code requirements, and safely removing outdated wiring. Additionally, you’ll coordinate with general contractors, city inspectors, and fellow tradespeople on-site.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

• Troubleshooting electrical issues using diagnostic tools.
• Collaborating with other tradesmen on remodeling projects.
• Documenting changes for project records to ensure transparency and easy reference.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical components of machinery and equipment.

These are practical examples of the work you’ll be doing. The ability to adapt and problem-solve is a must in this role.

What You Need to Be a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

To be successful as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician, you will need to have your Journeyman Electrician License in Texas. You should have at least 4-5 years of field experience, specifically in residential retrofits and remodeling projects.

Key skills and qualifications include:

• Comprehensive understanding of historical home limitations and structural challenges.
• Excellent planning and layout skills for complex wiring systems.
• Attention to detail, particularly in finish work.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple trades on-site.
