What You’ll Do as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

As a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician at Mr Sparky in Baytown, TX, your role will be integral in transforming older homes into modern, safe living spaces. Our current projects span from charming Victorian homes to mid-century bungalows, each presenting unique challenges and rewarding outcomes. Your work will primarily focus on updating electrical systems to meet present-day standards and homeowners’ needs.

Your Daily Tasks as a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

Your workday will be filled with a variety of tasks ranging from rerouting wiring in tight spaces to coordinating with city inspectors to ensure our projects meet code requirements. You’ll be responsible for upgrading service panels, adding circuits for new appliances or additions, and safely removing outdated wiring. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and overcoming structural challenges common in historical homes.

As part of your daily duties, you’ll also use diagnostic tools to confirm the functionality of rewired circuits and maintain detailed project records. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with general contractors and other trades on-site, a critical aspect of keeping our projects on schedule and meeting our clients’ expectations.

What You Need to Be a Remodel & Retrofit Electrician

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a Licensed Journeyman Electrician in Texas with at least 4-5 years of experience in residential retrofits and remodeling projects. A solid understanding of the limitations and structural challenges found in historical homes is crucial, as is the ability to plan and layout projects effectively.

Your attention to detail in finish work will ensure the seamless integration of new electrical systems into older homes. You should be comfortable collaborating with multiple trades on-site and have a good understanding of GFCI/AFCI protection requirements.
