The Residential Apprentice Electrician Position

As a Residential Apprentice Electrician with Jonsson Electrical, you will work under the supervision of a Journeyman. Your day-to-day responsibilities include assisting the Journeyman in installing boxes, devices, and fixtures, pulling wire, labeling, and basic terminations. You’ll also learn to safely use hand and power tools, stage materials, assist with conduit measuring and bending, and maintain clean work areas. Core Residential Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

As a team member, you’ll support Journeymen on new-construction single and multi-tenant homes. You’ll stage materials, use hand/power tools safely, and learn to install boxes, devices, and fixtures. You’ll also assist with pulling wire, labeling, and basic terminations under supervision. Your role will involve helping with conduit measuring/bending and MC layout. It’s essential to maintain clean work areas and follow safety rules. You’ll need to reliably report to assigned sites and lift up to 50 lbs. Additional responsibilities include:

• Installing and maintaining wiring and lighting systems
• Repairing electrical equipment and fixtures
• Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints

Required Experience & Skills

We require a high school diploma or equivalent, or current secondary school students (16+). The ideal candidate will be able to learn and take direction from a Journeyman. You must obtain and maintain a Utah Apprentice Electrician license (JES can assist). A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary. You should have basic electrical hand tools per experience year, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to teamwork. Minimum 0-2 years’ experience as a Residential Apprentice Electrician is required.

Tools & Equipment

Our Residential Apprentice Electricians use a variety of tools daily, including wire strippers, multimeters, and power tools such as drills and saws. You’ll be expected to provide your own basic hand tools. Jonsson Electrical will supply any specialized equipment needed for specific tasks.

Physical Requirements

The job requires lifting up to 50 lbs. You’ll often work in a variety of environments, including new construction sites and residential homes. Safety gear, including hard hats, work boots, and safety glasses, will be required.

Training & Development

Compensation Package

Our compensation package includes a competitive hourly wage, ranging from $17.17 - $19.63, depending on experience. We offer paid time off and holidays, and career advancement opportunities.
