The Residential Apprentice Electrician Position
As a Residential Apprentice Electrician in our team, you’ll be involved in a host of responsibilities. From staging materials, using hand and power tools, assisting with wire pulling and labeling, to conduit measuring and bending, your day-to-day activities will be diverse and engaging. You’ll work under the supervision of a Journeyman, learning from their vast experience. Core Residential Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities
Our Apprentice Electricians play a crucial role in supporting our journeymen on new-construction projects. This includes single and multi-tenant homes where you’ll stage materials, use hand/power tools, install boxes, devices, and fixtures, and assist with pulling wire. Your duties will extend to maintaining clean work areas and following safety rules. Other advanced technical duties specific to this role include assisting with electrical systems design, performing electrical load calculations, and troubleshooting electrical malfunctions.
Required Experience & Skills
We require a high school diploma or equivalent for this role. If you’re a current secondary student aged 16 or above, you’re also welcome to apply. You should have the ability to learn and take direction from a Journeyman. Other prerequisites include obtaining/maintaining a Utah Apprentice Electrician license, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and basic electrical hand tools per your experience level.
Tools & Equipment
Our Residential Apprentice Electricians use a variety of tools daily, including wire strippers, voltage testers, and conduit benders. You’re required to bring your personal tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and tape measures. We provide company equipment like power drills, saws, and electrical meters.
Physical Requirements
The job will require you to lift up to 50 lbs. You’ll often work in outdoor conditions, which can be physically demanding. Safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves are a must.
Training & Development
At Jonsson Electrical, we’re committed to the continuous development of our team. We have a mentorship program where our experienced Journeymen guide our apprentice electricians. We also facilitate your acquisition of necessary certifications and ensure you’re on a clear path for career advancement.
Compensation Package
Our compensation package is competitive, with a salary range of $16.43-$19.28 per hour, depending on experience. We also offer paid time off and holidays, career advancement opportunities, ongoing training and certifications, overtime policies, tool allowances, and other perks such as health insurance and retirement plans.
