This pivotal role will involve performing various retrofit works in residential settings, replacing outdated wiring systems, and installing various safety devices. The ideal candidate will be capable of reading remodel plans and producing accurate material takeoffs, while maintaining strict safety protocols and demonstrating professionalism when interacting with homeowners.

Must Haves for Residential Journeyman

• 4-6 years experience as a Residential Journeyman
• Journeyman license with deep understanding of residential retrofit codes and best practices
• Confidence working in attics, crawlspaces, and finished spaces
• Proficiency in neat terminations and finish quality
• Strong safety habits and homeowner-facing professionalism

Key Residential Journeyman Duties

• Complete retrofit work in single-family homes and garden-style apartments
• Replace aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring
• Install AFCI/GFCI protection and whole-home surge devices
• Upgrade main service and bonding/grounding
• Add circuits for kitchens, baths, and accessory dwelling units
• Integrate battery backup or generator interlocks
• Perform detailed rough/trim in active remodels
• Coordinate with inspectors and other trades
• Educate residents on safe system use
