Journeyman Residential Electrician Position Overview

First Contracting is urgently seeking a Journeyman Residential Electrician for our Lansing, MI operations. This role is critical as it supports our commitment to delivering top-notch residential electrical services. As our residential electrician, you’ll work on various projects including retrofitting, repairs, and new installations. You’ll also be our go-to person for diagnosing and correcting code issues.

Must Haves for Journeyman Residential Electrician

• 5-9 years experience as a Journeyman Residential Electrician
• Active Journeyman license
• 5+ years in residential service/retrofit
• Strong diagnostics and code-correction experience
• Fluent with multi-tenant metering, submeter installs, and common-area upgrades
• Comfortable coordinating access and working neatly in occupied units
• Excellent documentation and time management skills

Key Journeyman Residential Electrician Duties

As our residential electrician, you’ll manage a variety of tasks including:

• Swapping load centers and refitting circuits
• Installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to current code
• Converting fixtures to sealed LED
• Implementing smart thermostats and occupancy sensors
• Remediating inspection tags and addressing nuisance trips
• Scheduling with tenants and project management teams
• Tracking materials, documenting photos/as-builts, and delivering zero-punch turnovers on tight timelines
