What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician
As a Journeyman Electrician at First Contracting, you’ll play a critical role in our ongoing multi-year project in Westland, MI, with additional projects in nearby cities like Livonia, Garden City, and Wayne. Your expertise will be vital in managing and executing electrical installations, upgrades, and maintenance. You’ll work on a variety of projects, including multi-family remodels and senior housing retrofits, ensuring all work meets the highest safety and quality standards. Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician
As part of your daily routine, you will:

Perform Electrical Work on Diverse Projects: Engage in multi-family remodels and senior housing retrofits, ensuring each project meets specific requirements and timelines.

Install and Update Service Panels: Efficiently install and upgrade service panels, ensuring seamless power distribution and adherence to safety standards.

Terminate Circuits and Mount Boxes: Skillfully terminate circuits and mount electrical boxes, ensuring secure and reliable connections.

Run EMT and MC Cable: Accurately run EMT and MC cables, ensuring clean and organized installations that meet project specifications.

Supervise Apprentices: Provide guidance and oversight to apprentices, instilling best practices and fostering a culture of safety and learning.

Follow NEC and Michigan Electrical Codes: Ensure all work is compliant with National Electrical Code (NEC) and Michigan-specific regulations to maintain legal and safety standards.

Communicate with Project Managers: Maintain open communication with project managers to keep projects on schedule and address any challenges proactively.

Retrofit Outdated Systems: Retrofit existing systems to meet current code requirements, improving efficiency and safety.

What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician
To be successful in this role, you must have:

Valid Michigan Journeyman Electrician License: A requirement to ensure your qualifications meet state standards.

5-7 Years of Residential Field Experience: Demonstrated experience in residential electrical work is essential for understanding project complexities.
