Core Journeyman Electrician Skills

A valid Journeyman license is required, along with at least 4 years of experience in retrofit environments. The successful candidate will have mastered residential and multifamily wiring methods such as NM, MC, EMT. They will be adept at fishing walls with minimal patching and possess a proficiency with load calc, circuit tracing, insulation-resistant testing, and labeling standards. Strong customer communication skills are vital, as is the ability to work independently and mentor helpers.

Main Journeyman Electrician Duties

The Journeyman Electrician will execute gut-rehab and light-turn retrofit scopes in apartment units and small residential complexes, replace panels and risers, and install new subpanels and disconnects. They will be able to convert legacy lighting to dimmable LED with smart controls, add dedicated circuits for HVAC/heat pumps and laundry, and install EVSE circuits in carports/garages. Other duties include troubleshooting hidden faults in older plaster or masonry construction, performing punch-list corrections and closeout testing, and maintaining clean, resident-safe work areas.
