The Residential Electrician Position

As a residential electrician on our team, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks. You’ll be expected to install and repair electrical systems in homes and apartment buildings, wire new construction and remodels, service breaker panels and subpanels, and troubleshoot household electrical issues. You’ll also be working in different environments, depending on the type of project. Core Residential Electrician Responsibilities

Beyond basic tasks, as a residential electrician, you will also be expected to perform advanced duties such as inspecting systems for code compliance and communicating with homeowners about potential electrical issues. Maintaining tools and supplies is also an integral part of your role.

Required Experience & Skills

We’re looking for candidates with a valid electrical license or an apprenticeship completion certificate, and a minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a residential electrician. You should have an understanding of NEC code for residential work, the ability to read blueprints and layouts, and be skilled in outlet, lighting, and switch installation. Excellent customer service and communication skills are a must, along with a clean driving record.

Tools & Equipment

Our residential electricians frequently use tools such as wire strippers, voltage testers, and insulation resistance testers. You’ll be required to maintain a set of personal tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, and tape measures. The company will provide all heavy-duty equipment such as power drills and saws.

Physical Requirements

The job of a residential electrician often involves heavy lifting, so you should be capable of handling weights up to 50 lbs. The working conditions can vary from indoor residential settings to outdoor construction sites. Safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves are mandatory.
