The Residential Electrician Position

As a Residential Electrician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include installing and repairing electrical systems, wiring new and remodelled buildings, and servicing breaker panels and subpanels. You’ll also troubleshoot household electrical issues, inspect systems for code compliance, and communicate with homeowners. You will work under the guidance of experienced supervisors within a supportive team structure, and there are plenty of opportunities for growth within EV Careers.

Core Residential Electrician Responsibilities

In addition to the duties mentioned above, as a Residential Electrician, you’ll also be expected to perform advanced technical duties such as installing and servicing advanced home automation systems and performing energy efficiency audits on existing systems. Regionally, you may be tasked with working on projects specific to the Biloxi area, such as hurricane-resistant wiring systems. Safety is of utmost importance at EV Careers; you will be expected to adhere strictly to all safety protocols, maintain your tools and supplies, and ensure your work area is safe and hazard-free.

Required Experience & Skills

We require a minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Residential Electrician. You’ll need a valid electrical license or proof of apprenticeship completion and a comprehensive understanding of the NEC code for residential work. Other essential skills include the ability to read blueprints and layouts, experience with installing outlets, lighting, and switches, and proficiency with servicing breaker panels. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required, as is a clean driving record.

Tools & Equipment

Our Residential Electricians utilize a variety of tools, including voltage testers, wire strippers, conduit benders, and multitools. Personal tools such as screwdrivers and pliers are necessary, while larger equipment such as ladders and power drills are provided by the company.

Physical Requirements

As a Residential Electrician, you’ll be required to lift items up to 50 lbs regularly. You’ll often work in various conditions, from new construction sites to residential homes. Safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, and protective gloves, are a must.
