What You’ll Do as a High Voltage DC Electrician

As a High Voltage DC Electrician with EV Careers in Memphis, TN, you’ll be on the front lines of our projects, playing a key role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage direct current systems. This is not a desk job – you’ll be in the field, hands-on, ensuring that our power distribution systems are functioning at their best.

Your Daily Tasks as a High Voltage DC Electrician

Your daily life as a High Voltage DC Electrician will be varied and challenging. You’ll install and maintain high-voltage direct current systems, working on power distribution and conversion systems including rectifiers and inverters. You’ll be responsible for ensuring DC arc flash safety standards are met and troubleshooting electrical faults in HVDC environments.

Reading and interpreting complex schematics will be a regular part of your day, as will assisting in commissioning new systems. You’ll monitor performance data and conduct preventative maintenance, continually ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our systems.

In addition, you’ll work closely with other team members, coordinating efforts and sharing your knowledge and experience. You’ll also be tasked with training junior electricians, providing them with the guidance and expertise they need to grow in their roles.

What You Need to Be a High Voltage DC Electrician

To be considered for the High Voltage DC Electrician role, you’ll need a minimum of 4-6 years experience in the field. You must be a licensed electrician with DC-specific training. A strong understanding of rectifiers, inverters, and battery systems is a must, as is knowledge of DC arc behavior and mitigation.

In addition, you’ll need to be capable of working with high-voltage PPE and diagnostic equipment. A keen eye for detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety are all crucial for this position.
