Your Daily Tasks as a High Voltage Battery Electrician
Your day-to-day responsibilities will primarily revolve around the management of high-voltage battery systems. You will be tasked with installing and maintaining these systems for electric vehicles or energy storage applications. Your expertise will be required to diagnose performance issues and carry out thermal and voltage testing. Safety is paramount in this role, hence, you will also be ensuring compliance with all safety standards.
More so, you will be integrating batteries with inverters and charge controllers, maintaining logs and test data, and assisting with field retrofits and emergency repairs. Additional daily activities include troubleshooting electrical faults, conducting regular inspections, and performing preventive maintenance duties.
What You Need to Be a High Voltage Battery Electrician
To succeed in this role, you should have an electrical license with a battery safety certification. Experience with lithium-ion and high-capacity storage systems is crucial. You should have a strong understanding of charge-discharge cycles, Battery Management System (BMS) systems, and thermal management. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety knowledge for high-voltage DC are also essential.
A minimum of 4-6 years in the field as a High Voltage Battery Electrician is required, along with excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Ability to work in a team and good communication skills will also be crucial to your success in this role.
