What You’ll Do as a Commercial Electrician

As a Commercial Electrician at EV Careers in Columbus, GA, your role will be crucial in our ongoing commercial construction projects. Your day-to-day tasks will involve installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in commercial buildings. We’re not just looking for someone to do the job - we’re looking for someone who can take charge and lead a project.

Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial Electrician

Your responsibilities will include installing and maintaining electrical systems in commercial buildings. You’ll troubleshoot and repair power distribution systems, ensure compliance with safety codes, and implement lighting control systems. You’ll also plan and execute electrical upgrades and manage materials and tools for projects. You’ll be expected to coordinate with other construction teams, inspect and test installations for quality assurance, and document work progress and maintenance records. Additionally, you will mentor apprentices and junior electricians, provide on-site technical expertise, support emergency power system installations, and integrate energy-efficient solutions into designs. On a day-to-day basis, you might also be asked to draft electrical schematics, perform load calculations, and conduct system performance evaluations.

What You Need to Be a Commercial Electrician

The ideal candidate for this role has a relevant electrical certification or licensure and a strong understanding of commercial electrical systems. You should be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience with power tools and diagnostic equipment and a solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of safety protocols and building codes, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, good communication and organizational skills, and being physically capable of handling electrical tools and equipment are also important. We’re looking for someone who has at least 3-5 years of experience in the field as a Commercial Electrician.
