What You’ll Do as a Commercial Apprentice

As a Commercial Apprentice at EV Careers, you’ll play a critical role in our ongoing commercial projects in Russellville. You’ll be involved in a variety of tasks, from assisting in commercial-grade EV electrical installations to interpreting basic blueprints and layout plans. This is a hands-on role with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial Apprentice

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting in the installation of electrical systems in various commercial settings such as retail stores, hospitality venues, and industrial facilities. You’ll be expected to pull wire through raceways and install low-voltage control wiring for smart EV systems.

You’ll also support panel upgrades and load center installations, maintain records of material use and time logs, and learn commercial code requirements. Additionally, you’ll work with other tradesmen on site to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Some other typical tasks include testing electrical systems for continuity, arranging preventative maintenance programs, and adhering to safety regulations and procedures. It’s a role that requires a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.

What You Need to Be a Commercial Apprentice

To be successful in this role, you should have completed at least one year in an apprenticeship program and have a good understanding of commercial wiring systems. You should also be able to read simple one-line diagrams.

Having an OSHA 10-hour certification is preferred but not mandatory. Key skills include a keen attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions exactly, and strong math and measuring skills. Prior experience in the field as a Commercial Apprentice would be an added advantage.
