What You’ll Do as an Apprentice Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician at EV Careers in Owensboro, KY, you’ll be an integral part of our electric vehicle charging station installation and maintenance team. You’ll be getting your hands dirty and learning on-the-go, all while contributing to the growth of the electric vehicle market. Your Daily Tasks as an Apprentice Electrician

Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in the installation and testing of EV charging stations. You’ll pull wire and bend conduit under the supervision of experienced electricians. Maintaining the cleanliness of the worksite and tools will also be part of your daily duties.

Understanding blueprints and circuit diagrams will become second nature to you as you learn to interpret them. You’ll adhere to NEC guidelines for both low-voltage and 240V installations.

Attending weekly safety meetings and hands-on training sessions will keep you up-to-date with the latest safety practices and techniques. And, you’ll have the opportunity to shadow journeyman electricians during EVSE installations and repairs, providing invaluable real-world experience.

What You Need to Be an Apprentice Electrician

To be successful in this role, you need to be enrolled in a certified electrician apprenticeship program. You should have a basic understanding of electrical theory and safety.

A willingness to work in outdoor and industrial environments is critical, as is the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team are also essential.

Having a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must, as you may need to travel to various worksites. Previous experience in the field, while not required, is definitely a plus.
