What You’ll Do as an Apprentice Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician at EV Careers in Lexington, KY, you’ll be an instrumental part of our team, working on our current projects centered around electric vehicle charging systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll assist in the installation and testing of EV charging stations, as well as learn the intricate details of electrical systems and circuits.

Your Daily Tasks as an Apprentice Electrician

Your day-to-day duties will include assisting in the installation and testing of EV charging stations, pulling wire and bending conduit under the supervision of experienced electricians. You’ll maintain tools and keep the worksite clean while learning to read blueprints and circuit diagrams. Part of your role will also be to follow NEC guidelines for low-voltage and 240V installations.

In addition to these tasks, you’ll attend weekly safety meetings and engage in hands-on training sessions. You’ll also have the opportunity to shadow journeyman electricians during EVSE installations and repairs. Other daily tasks may include troubleshooting electrical issues, installing light fixtures and switches, and assisting in the layout and preparation of electrical systems.

What You Need to Be an Apprentice Electrician

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be enrolled in a certified electrician apprenticeship program and have a basic understanding of electrical theory and safety. You should be prepared to work in outdoor and industrial environments and have the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders.

Strong communication and team collaboration skills are crucial to this role, as is a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Prior experience in the field as an Apprentice Electrician is advantageous, but not mandatory. Other must-have skills include problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
