About Our Apprentice Electrician Team

Working as an Apprentice Electrician at EV Careers, you’ll be part of a highly reputable team in Kingsport, TN, known for our quality work and commitment to excellence. Our electricians handle a variety of projects, from the installation of EV charging stations to complex electrical system repairs in both residential and commercial settings. We also regularly work in the surrounding cities of Johnson City, Bristol, and Elizabethton.

The Apprentice Electrician Position

As an Apprentice Electrician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting in the installation and testing of EV charging stations, pulling wire and bending conduit under supervision, and maintaining the cleanliness of the worksite. You’ll be working in various environments, including outdoor and industrial settings. Our team structure includes direct supervision from experienced Journeyman Electricians, offering plenty of opportunities for learning and growth within EV Careers.

Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

In addition to the aforementioned duties, as an Apprentice Electrician, you’ll be expected to learn to read blueprints and circuit diagrams and follow NEC guidelines for low-voltage and 240V installations. You’ll attend weekly safety meetings and hands-on training, and shadow Journeyman Electricians during EVSE installations and repairs. Advanced technical duties will include troubleshooting electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting with power distribution systems. Regional project specifics will depend on the location and client requirements. Strict adherence to safety protocols is a must.

Required Experience & Skills

To qualify for this position, you must be enrolled in a certified electrician apprenticeship program and have a basic understanding of electrical theory and safety. A willingness to work in outdoor and industrial environments is essential, as is the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders. Strong communication and team collaboration skills are also required, along with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician is preferred, along with essential certifications such as OSHA 10/30.

Tools & Equipment

Our Apprentice Electricians regularly use a variety of tools including wire strippers, conduit benders, multimeters, and cable cutters. You’ll be expected to provide your own basic hand tools, while specialized equipment will be provided by EV Careers.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding role, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders. Working conditions can vary, but often include outdoor and industrial environments. Safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and work boots will be required at all times.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $21.8-$28.06 per hour depending on experience, along with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
